The Eastern Suburbs and the Eastern Beaches put Sydney on the international map.

Here are 10 of my favourite places & things to do around the east:

1. Best outdoor activity - A swim in the ocean at any one of the amazing Eastern beaches; my favourite is Clovelly because I prefer the calmer water

2. Best coffee - Favoloso Espresso Bar + Deli in Bronte; I love the coffee, the take away meals and everything about this place

3. Best café - Tuga Pastries; to die for Portugese tarts

4. Best place to hang out when it’s raining - Bondi Westfield (although be warned every one else will be there as well).

5. Best view - How could you possibly go past Bondi Beach for the best view?! There is a reason it is on every 2nd Sydney post card

6. Best little bar - Ok so not that little, but the Coogee Pavilion is hard to go past for a casual weekend beverage

7. Best restaurant - Chiswick for a Modern Australian vibe; highly recommend the lamb shoulder

8. Best bookshop - Ampersand or Berkelouw in Paddington; both are great options

9. Best dog friendly activity - Centennial Park; the outer loop is completely dog friendly. Also Rose Bay dog beach; great beach and fantastic views of Sydney harbour

10. Most touristy thing to do - Getting sunburnt on Bondi Beach (extra points if it is Christmas day and you are English or Irish!)
