Life in Marrickville, 2204.
Marrickville is a geographically large suburb with a vibrant community feel to it. Marrickville is synonymous with diversity. It was even voted Australia’s second coolest neighbourhood in Australia by TimeOut. Need help from a local? You won’t even need to ask. A few of my favourite things about Marrickville:
Addison road markets every Sunday 9am to 3pm; don’t eat before you go as there is an amazing selection of stalls to choose from, buy your groceries for the week, pick up a 2nd hand book or clothes, and best of all you can take the dog. Parking can be tight so consider walking
Henson Park is an established local sports ground & home to the Newtown jets. If you’re not into rugby league then go along on a dedicated Beer Footy Food weekend with the mates and you will not be disappointed.
The newly renovated Marrickville Metro is now so much more than just a shopping centre with a full indoor & outdoor dining precinct
Reverse Garbage is always worth a stop, especially if planning an event or fancy dress. Citizens of Marrickville are massive on ensuring minimal waste.
There is also no shortage of craft breweries in Marrickville, including Bob Hawk Beer & Leisure Centre, Grifter, Sauce (great outdoor area), Batch, Mixtape, Wildflower, Wayward & Philter (great rooftop). Check out the Craftapped app if you are considering sampling a few.
Also home to Anthony Albanese & Toto before they got promoted to Kirribilli
